MY APPROACH TO THERAPY
WhatsApp Image 2021-01-13 at 1.05.09 PM.

I want to understand you, your world and your hopes for the future.

With an innate desire to understand your unique circumstances and support you through self-directed change. I'm ready to help you alleviate distress, gain clarity and foster a life you find additionally meaningful.

Seeing each individual as unique, I work from an integrative perspective to meet you where you are at. I help individuals and couples identify how their past experiences inform the way they think, and how those patterns of thinking can be changed and accepted in order to improve their lives. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, life transitions and trauma. I view therapy as a collaborative experience in which the therapeutic relationship is key.

If you are ready for self-exploration and personal growth, let's arrange a free phone consultation.

SERVICES

As part of my practice, I aim to address a wide variety of challenges in order to best fit your needs. Please reach out for a free phone consultation. I look forward to getting to know you!

ANXIETY:

Anxiety may be impairing your ability to socialize, work or create the home life you desire. If you're struggling with anxiety in your daily life, I will work with you to create a personalized program using methods that may include: additional coping strategies, identifying unhelpful thinking styles, exploring behaviors that increase anxiety and helping you gradually become accustomed to situations that cause anxiety through discussing, imagining or experiencing them.

BODY IMAGE

Have you ever felt shame about your body—at home, out in the world, or even in a medical setting? You are not alone! I work with individuals and groups to help reframe how we think and feel about our bodies. The Health at Every Size (HAES) approach is a body liberation movement, offering freedom from shame-based perceptions and reminding us that healthy choices can be made at any size. Currently, my group work focuses on supporting, and processing the experiences, barriers, and feelings that come up around exploring joyful movement. I am also a proud member of the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH).

IDENTITY:

Some of my fondest therapy moments are from working at an organization that specializes in working with LGBTQ+ folks. While working there I had the pleasure of connecting with clients from all walks of life around their identity. This experience coupled with their on-site training has given me the opportunity to work with a variety of gender identities and sexualities. Some challenges I have worked with clients to overcome include: internalized phobias, the coming-out process, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, workplace issues, and discrimination.

INCREASING PERSONAL MEANING:

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a therapist is helping clients foster a life that is additionally meaningful. Part of this process includes identifying past and current sources of meaning in order to fully realize known opportunities for meaningfulness. In addition, I aid clients in identifying their ‘meaning making style’ which helps open up new relevant avenues, activities and rituals that increase a sense of personal meaning. Lastly, there is a focus on identifying and reducing patterns, actions and activities that lead to experiences that are less meaningful.

LIFE TRANSITIONS:

Whether it be coping with a breakup, divorce, job loss or adjusting to college life, transitions are universally challenging! I love helping individuals who are adjusting to new circumstances or going through life changes. I'm here to support you, assist you with self-care, and I will walk with you as you work through the fear and discomfort.

TRAUMA:

Experiencing trauma can be an extraordinarily confronting experience - know that you are not alone. My style is gentle and patient, and I've received advanced training and an academic certificate in Cognitive Processing Therapy, which allows me to help you become more aware of the relationship between your thoughts and emotions as we begin to unpack your trauma at your own pace.

Journey

Does the idea of participating in group therapy awaken fears of being humiliated, made fun of, or being put on the spot while uncertain of what to say?

If so, Journey may provide the perfect opportunity to address those fears!

Created to overcome the research supported paradox—that social fears are best addressed in the group format —Journey is played on an elaborate, one-of-a-kind, carved board that provides the familiar structure of a tabletop game that can offer guidance on your path.

Conceptualized through a vision of what group therapy could be; Journey has helpful prompts for days when you need a little help getting started and dice for when you’d like to add some chance. Utilizing the power of choice during every turn, players are welcome to share about their past, or what is currently going on as they gather and let go of words that currently or once defined them.

Journey is a game where real-world power is drawn from real-world experience. Simply click on the word vision above to hear the lore surrounding the game’s conception.

This group runs in 15-week campaigns. Each week each client gets the opportunity to take their turn. Every in-person session is $95.
